Fried Fish Mappas




This is my father’s recipe. Mappas is a typical kerala dish with thick coconut milk. It tastes great with appam. I strongly recommended this curry malayalees loves coconut milk curries. In addition you can add fried cashew nut & raisins.

 

Ingredients
Fish                                                                   ¼ kg(4 pieces)
Ginger                                                              2 tsp
Garlic                                                                2 tsp
Onion                                                                1 nos
Green chilly                                                    2 slit (lengthwise)
Red chilly powder                                        ½ tsp
Pepper powder                                              ½ tsp
Coriander powder                                        ½ tsp
Garam masala                                                 ½ tsp
Curry leaves                                                    few
Coconut milk                                                  ½ cup (thick)
Coconut milk                                                  ½ cup (thin)
Turmeric power                                            ½ tsp
Lemon juice                                                     1 tsp
Tomato                                                             ½ nos
Coconut oil                                 
Salt

Method:

Marinate the fish with ½ red chilly powder, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, salt and lemon juice mix well; keep it aside for 15 minutes.

Fry the marinate fish and keep it aside

Heat oil in a pan add ginger, garlic stir it add chopped onion, green chilly, curry leaves, salt when it transparent add ¼ tsp turmeric powder, add coriander powder, garam masala, ½ tsp pepper powder

Add thin coconut milk when it boil add fried fish, tomato; keeping the stove at low heat

Cook covered for 10- 5 minutes by stirring occasionally

Pour the thick coconut milk and simmer for a minute and remove from heat

Garnish with curry leaves.
